What Is Homelessness?

A family or an individual is considered homeless if they are:

  • Doubling Up - A family or individual is staying short term as a guest with friends or relatives.
  • Emergency Shelter - Family or individual is staying in a temporary shelter.
  • Transitional Housing - Family or individual staying in transitional housing.
  • Hotel - Family or individual staying in a hotel or motel.
  • Street- Sleeping in abandoned buildings, vehicles, under bridges or outside.
