Financial Education Programs

NEFE High School Financial Planning Program
NEFE High School Financial Planning Program is available to Macomb and St. Clair County High Schools.

FEFE High School Financial Planning Program is a program designed to educate high school students about money managing skills and to help teens begin to develop positive behaviors for financial maturity. This program is proven to work, in that it is built around a methodology and philosophy that have been proven in independent studies. It is linked with technology in order for the community, friends and family, to get involved and support the students. The program has been field tested in three different settings, all of which have generated a positive response to the program from the teens.

United Way Individual Development Account Program (IDAS)
United Way IDA Program subject to account availability, income and GPA guidelines.

New Haven CAHC Program has partnered with United Way of Southeastern Michigan to provide financial literacy programming and IDA accounts to local youth. Youth who meet federal guidelines will be provided with 9 hours of financial literacy training, and upon completion will open their own IDA Savings Account at National City Bank.

What is an IDA Account?

IDA Accounts are a savings plan in which students set a goal of saving $500.00 over a period of time, varying between 6 and 12 months. For every deposit that the student makes into their personal IDA Savings Account, United Way for Southeastern Michigan will match that amount 8 to 1, up to $4,000.00. At completion of the savings program, the students will have $4,500.00 to spend on post-secondary tuition, books and registration fees.
